In the event of inclement weather, First Christian Church Child Care Center will be closed for the first day that Edmond Public Schools are closed. We evaluate the condition of weather and roads for the second and subsequent days. Since 1963 the education building at First Christian Church has been filled with the sights and sounds of children of all ages each weekday. This outreach ministry was begun in response to the need of a single mother who was returning to school to complete her education. We have the distinction of being the first licensed child care facility in Oklahoma. We offer care Monday through Friday from 6:45am to 6:00pm for children 6 weeks of age through the completion of fifth grade. We offer transportation to area public and private schools at no additional charge, house an Edmond Public Schools Pre-K classroom, and offer Private full-day kindergarten as well with a certified teacher utilizing the A Beka curriculum. Our mission is to serve children and families by providing an early learning environment that encourages the spiritual, physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of each individual child at his or her own pace, following state and nationally accepted standards of child care. We believe a child’s early experiences enrich and foster future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as individuals in our Christian environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination.
