It is my privilege and honor to serve as Principal of Northwestern High School. I am in awe of the rich, diverse community that includes Northwestern and our feeder schools Hyattsville and Nicholas Orem Middle. I am looking forward to working with our World Class students and educators and inspiring them to be Great by Choice! I am no stranger to Prince Georges County. I taught Spanish at Largo High School over 10 years ago, my family and I live in the county, and my daughter has attended a Prince George’s County School since kindergarten. I return to work in the county partly because my daughter’s schooling helped me realize what a great school system we have and also because I am committed to providing the highest quality education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment through collaboration with our staff, parents, and community. I truly believe that education does not take place in a vacuum. Our success is dependent upon the input, support, and involvement from all of our stakeholders. We are only as strong as each member of our team and each member is equally as important as the next. At Northwestern High School, World Class Teachers and Staff are preparing our World Class Students to be College and Career Ready. I love this mantra that was introduced to me on my very first day of school. I would like to add our World Class Community without whom we cannot be successful. I am very passionate about collaboration inside and outside of our school house. I will be spending a considerable amount of time engaging with all of our stakeholders to advance our agenda to improve Attendance, Achievement, Instruction, and Matriculations; the 4 Big Rocks that are the cornerstone of our work at Northwestern.

It is with great pleasure and an incredible sense of optimism that I bring you greetings and well wishes. My name is Toi Davis, and I have the distinct honor and privilege of being appointed the new principal of University Park Elementary School. In the coming weeks, it is my intent to meet with members of our school community (parents and staff) as we endeavor to continue the tradition of academic excellence for which University Park is known. Together we also will strive to reach new heights academically and continue to develop socially responsible citizens prepared to meet the challenges of an ever changing world. Just to offer you a brief background, I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Towson University and continued my professional preparation at the College of Notre Dame where I attained my Master of Arts Degree in Education Leadership. I proudly come to Prince Georges County Public Schools after spending the past seventeen years as both a teacher and administrator in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Specifically, I have worked the last eight years as an assistant principal in Montgomery County Public Schools at Potomac Elementary, Forest Knolls Elementary and Glen Haven Elementary School. I believe very strongly that what makes a school successful are communication, collaboration and community. In all of my experiences, I have worked tirelessly to ensure that school is much more than a building, but rather, it is a haven and laboratory for ideas, hopes, dreams, and aspirations. As such, I welcome the opportunity to work with you in partnership to ensure that every child feels emotionally safe, secure, and encouraged to become intellectual risk takers. It is in this environment that authentic learning flourishes and thrives, and children are able to realize their dreams. On a personal note, I am a wife, mother and resident of Prince Georges County! My husband (Dwayne) and I have two wonderful children (Jabari 12 and Sala 9), both enrolled in Prince George’s County Public Schools. In many ways, this appointment is a homecoming for me. I look forward to meeting you and hearing from you firsthand regarding your ideas for how we can grow and build upon the great tradition of University Park Elementary School. If you are in the area please feel free to stop in and say hello. I look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks. Please enjoy the remainder of your summer.
