Description: Head Start is a federally-funded, high quality, family-focused preschool program that promotes the growth and development of children ages 3 to 5. To participate, children must be at least 3 years of age on or before September 1 of the current year and not yet eligible for kindergarten. Eligibility for Head Start is based on family income, with priority given to families whose income is at or below the federal poverty level.
