We are new parents to our 12 month old baby boy,
Our son has never attended daycare until a month ago at Little School House Of Castroville
Our precious son loves the daycare center and the providers
The providers are very knowledgeable and very sweet with my son
At drop off my son always reaches out for the provider to take him, this gives us such peace of mind knowing that our son is well taken care of and loved.
Thank you ladies at Little School House Of Castroville
My children are enrolled at this day care center with Ms Janet and they love it.
This day care is like a home away from home for my boys
The center has a good curriculums for all the children and I have seen the growth in my boys development and the development in their speech
My boys were primarily Spanish-speaking when they were enrolled and now they both speak good English.
I recommend this daycare center .
Thank you
Posting here since apparently Facebook reviews are blocked from posting without review first and they can also be deleted!!! Honest review: take it how you may, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets deleted also since I can’t even get a response from a private message I sent Mrs Sandy! Janet has been a big part of my daughters life for about 6 yrs now! I planned on putting my 18mth old there as well. Due to unforeseen circumstances that have NOTHING to do with me!! My immediate family has been outed by this facility which I feel is totally unfair and bad business! I personally can not control how other grown adults act so I should not be punished! It’s amazing no reviews in 2+ yrs but once my sister made a review that’s now been removed 2 others made good ones! The one about the grandchildren is pretty funny, she must not listen to her grandson much because if you ask (josh) about Miss Jennifer he knows who I am ???? and had nothing nice to say about Mrs Janet or the facility! I worked 2 fridays and it’s amazing what you see when your there for a period of time other then 5-10 min for drop off and pick up!!!!
I addressed most issues with Mrs Janet she had an explanation/excuse for most my concerns. However, there’s multiple things I didn’t discuss and I’ve got pictures of issues because I was waiting for some time to see if things changed. Coincidentally I brought up the teacher to student ratio and how hectic it is. They are within “state guidelines” which is absurd. They only take 18mths and up or fix/lose paperwork to make a child older then they are; in order to be in state guidelines! (18mths can be co mingled with any age-per state licensing which explains why they want them to be 18mths or older! (Less teachers required) anyone who has kids knows damn well 1 person CAN NOT tend to 7-10 babies (18-3yrs old) and another 8-10 older kids (4-10) EFFECTIVELY. It’s amazing Mrs Stephanie has lasted this long, but I’ve noticed somethings about her as well I wasn’t impressed with. Prior to this I hadn’t seen Janet’s truck there hardly ever for almost a year but since I brought it up she’s there all the time!! Hmmmm!!!! I’m not a disgruntled customer in fact I really like Janet she was like a 2nd grandma to my 9yr old. I turned a shoulder because I knew Janet would take care of my kids. At the end of the day not many daycares live up to parents standards and nothing’s perfect I get that. Janet and Sandy are great people I don’t doubt for a second my kids were taken care of while there but The establishment itself I’m not so impressed with! The meals I witnessed not so hot either. Cooking in microwave for 22 kids just doesn’t cut it! (After lunch at least 6 kids were complaining about stomach aches) which now makes me think a little more about my niece and her diarrhea issues there. Kids who eat slop at home know no different, but kids that eat decent fully cooked meals turn there nose up to slop. “I wouldn’t feed my dogs what we fed those kids the first day I worked” Hopefully the 2 stoves that are there have been fixed and kids are getting good hardy nutritious meals and enough food on their plates. All I can say is it’s a-shame the way my situation has been handled really makes me think all these years I must have just been blind to the fakeness ???? I should’ve left this review cpl months ago when I worked but I gave them The benefit of the doubt and had eventually planned on putting my child there regardless of concerns that I had because I don’t trust any daycares with my babies. Janet was like family so my issues I felt could be worked out over time and with a little TLC and $ into the place the daycare issues can be fixed.
It's just ridiculous the way these people run their business. The owner is hardly there and leaves over 15 kids there with one staff member. On top of other issues with these people. Take your children somewhere else if you value your childrens care!!!!
My child attends this center I am very happy with the performance of the teachers I'm very happy with the director and the owner.
They have a full day of activities and curriculum for my child and my child has now become kindergarten ready
I have dropped in unannounced on numerous occasions to drop off goodies for the day care or donations of Kleenex and each time is have seen all the children busy involved in their program
I am very satisfied with the teachers at this center now.
Like at any day care sometimes they will employ someone that you just don't click with
But that isn't a reflection on the quality of love and care that they provide for my child.
Sincerely
Mr and Mrs Scott
First , I wound like to start to say how great this daycare is . My kids love it there and have never had any problems . I Have seen staff come and go but its funny to hear the disgruntled employees bash and write terrible reviews . (WHY) Its funny to see how a bad seed can really try to make a company look bad . It shows alot of persons immaturity and level of commitment to work in a small town community business. My dealings with the Owner and the staff have all ways been very professional and loving environment . My kids will continue to learn and grow with Ms Sandy and Ms Janet's commitment to make it daycare a home away from home .
THANK YOU LADY'S FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO .
This daycare center came highly recommended to us by a friend of ours that has her child enrolled and is very happy.
We are so glad we picked this center .
Thank you to all the hard working ladies, they do such a good job with our son.
Our son loves his teacher and the other staff members.
We are looking forward to happy summer at the schoolhouse of Castroville.
I have resigned my position as a Care Provider at the Little School House of Castroville because the Manager (Ms. Janet) refuses to listen to my concerns for the safety and well being of the children. I've never met the owner (Sandy Smith), but she is having her mother (Ms. Janet) manage this child daycare facility. Over the past several weeks I have raised several concerns for the physical safety and health, as well as the emotional well being of the children in my care. The facility is lacking regular maintenance leading to several dangerous areas where the children can and do get hurt. This problem is compounded by the inadequate number of adult employees. This facility is limited to care for 44 children, but has had far more at one time. Records appear to be purposefully poorly kept so that on paper they never appear to be understaffed. Further, when attempting to care for a child who was pushed over a tripping hazard by another child and had sustained a large cut to her head, I asked Ms. Janet for assistance. She declined and left me with 9 additional children. When I advised that the child would need additional medical attention (Emergency Room) and that parents needed to be notified, Ms. Janet texted a parent, lied and said the child would be fine & told them not to worry, just pick up child like normal. Upon arrival, child's mother rushed her to the ER where child received three stitches to the face. Ms. Janet then lied again, telling the parent that I was at fault for not seeking help. --- After resigning I researched the facility further. Per TX DFPS, they have 47 infractions, most of which are moderate to high severity, in just the last 18 months. These include health (sanitation), safety (hazards), and legal concerns (like employees who havent cleared their FBI background checks). In short, it has been my experience that this facility & its owners cannot or will not provide a safe and healthy environment for children and faculty members.
I am an ex-employee of the little schoolhouse of Castroville. In the very beginning it was great. Ms. Sandy the owner or supposedly the director we never know. Decided to leave all her employees and not tell them about it in October Of 2015. All employees would never get their paycheck stubs I still haven't received mine. I haven't worked there in quite sometime now. There would be times where they would be inappropriate things happening from staff and employees that work there with other employees. employees had their checks bounce at sometimes! You can obviously see that the owner and the director or more about the money then the kids. Employees would tell owner and director that they are out of food and the kids have no food at the daycare. Some employees would be left with a lot of kids to themselves. it's just so much I know a lot of parents that were great parents and had great kids and they were very smart to remove their kids from that horrible situation! Never take your kids are awful daycare with those awful people! All they seem to care about is money coming in!
In my opinion this is the best daycare for my family.
The provider has help my son potty train successfully.
My son is always cheerful when I pick him up.,
He has bonded very well with the providers at this daycare.
I'm so glad I was able to find this location which is also convenient to my San Antonio job.
We have two children both are attending
Little School House of Castroville.
My infant daughter just loves the provider and
My toddler son is always happy to go to day care but Prize when it's time for him to leave
So over all , my kids love it there.
So glad I selected this day care for my family.
Big Thanks to the employees at the center for doing such a good job.
a former employee of this business received 3 paychecks that were returned due to insufficient funds. this same employee has yet to receive the last paycheck due for hours worked the last week of employment. any business that treats its employees this way is deserving of 1 star or less. If you use this day care, do not pay for the day care provided by a business that does not have enough employees to properly provide the service.
Very hard to find a daycare however when I first walked into this one I just knew this was the one! Very welcoming environment. It's a full daycare center with a homelike feeling which I loved for my children. The coded entry doors makes me feel very comfortable while I'm away from them. Teachers are very focused on the children. I'm a happy mommy!
I love this place.. My daughters love it more.. No sad faces when I drop them off...
Great prices..
Horrible experience everytime I picked up my son he had a runny nose they wouldn't even bother to wipe it and dirty teachers
