Description: Little Peeps Montessori- Naturskola (Nature School) We are located close to the woods, library and beach. In addition to the main curriculum areas of the Montessori three hour work period, (Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Science, Geography, Arts, and History) the children participate in Nature School in which the children walk into the woods and learn about ecology, science, biology and even math in the outdoors.
We have access to hiking trails and multiple outdoor play areas. The children spend about half of their day outside, usually in the woods in all types of weather. Our outdoor work and play yard is free from large play structures and allows the children plenty of space to run freely and use their imagination. They have the opportunity to care for the bunnies, garden, work with tools, play in the sand box, run after a ball and chase after dragonflies.

The warmest and realest and greatest experience for any little kid out there. People frequently characterize it as "magical" ... and I kind of think it is! The kids learn a lot (I swear my daughter pointed out a red-winged blackbird, a dragonfly, a salamander, and some lichen (?) over the course of a 20 minute walk today.) But it's not just nature. She knows some letter sounds and some sight words and whatever. Plus they're always painting (like wild, great, inventive little-kid stuff - all beauty, all anchored in their imaginations, but w/ guidance). Plus they're always taught to be nice to each other and the world, and to battle through challenges w/ a gentle fierceness and stamina. The vibe is A+. Get it.
My sincere wish for the world is that more of these nature preschools open, and that the staff (truly amazing, w/ a truly amazing head of school Ms. Cin) here trains everyone on how to get it right. Peeps is a special place. The Peeps. We're all here for it.
I so enjoy following this site....My great granddaughter is enrolled here, and I cannot say enough about this wonderful pre-school...
