Challenging Minds Daycare used to be really great. But it has gotten overcrowded and way too expensive for the quality of care given. Routinely, they are over ratio on children and it seems to be the same teachers every time who are expected to watch 15 plus kids by themselves while the younger girls (the daughters?) are allowed to sit on their butts or be gossiping with each other in the corner. Rates change without a lot of notice, and I'm sorry, but seeing a teenage girl running the show makes me incredibly nervous. I've also seen the younger girls punish kids for literally no reason other than annoying the girls. There were two teachers I really loved who were absolutely wonderful and why I kept my kids there, but through the grapevine, I heard that those two ladies were basically run out of there. It's sad because I really loved this place, but I believe it is no longer a safe environment for children.
I saw the other review and felt compelled to reply. We have used challenging minds for several years for two different children, one of whom is special needs. The care they have received has always been good. Communication with between the staff and I has been very productive. My children generally enjoy going to challenging minds. The staff seem to care; although I will agree with the other reviewer that they seem very busy a lot of the time; especially in the afternoon when a lot of children are getting picked up.
We utilized this provider for almost exactly six months, and fortunately for us, we were already moving and no longer needed their services. Had we not moved, we would have pulled our child out after 4 months.
This daycare center does not have properly trained staff, they are constantly over-ratio between teachers and students (to the point that consistently, a baby is being carried by a teacher that is watching a classroom of 15+ kids!!!).
Additionally, the staff and director collude in punishments they deem fit for children and will not tell the parent about it unless the parent asks questions. Our child had an accident with going to the bathroom and the amount of punishment and yelling they inflicted on him resulted in over a month of relapse with potty training because he was terrified to go to the bathroom anymore. When confronted why they felt the punishment was even done, the director and staff both felt they did nothing wrong. I would strongly discourage any parent to send their child to this facility unless your only criteria is that your child is returned to you alive each day.
