A Rainbow of Friends Christian School is a for-profit organization. We provide a Christian atmosphere for preschoolers with a set of model guidelines that describe the fundamental competencies and knowledge for children ages 2 1/2 - 6 years old during the school year. We offer a creative and educational Summer Camp for children ages 2 1/2 - 12 years old. In the summer, we also offer a Reading Academy for students ages 4-7. A Rainbow of Friends Christian School provides a solid foundation and high quality curriculum. This will prepare the children for higher learning as each child enters kindergarten and beyond. We believe, by using a high quality curriculum program, children will develop healthy habits and will succeed in school. During the first five years of life, the emotions a child feels, as well as what a child sees, hears, and experiences is the key to their brain development. Developmentally appropriate educational opportunities will impact a child for the rest of his or her life. It is our responsibility as a Christian school to offer a curriculum that will developmentally impact the quality of care and education of young children with Christ centered activities.

BUENA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

BUENA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Colorado Springs, CO 80905 | (719) 328-4100
Buena Vista Montessori Philosophy Statement Students learn at all grade levels through teacher-led and student-initiated projects. Independent study and group projects allow students to learn state standards through in-depth investigations into areas of personal interest to the student through which they become independent and self motivated learners. Driven by constructivist pedagogy, teachers facilitate the work of students as producers and learners and students further their own learning through acting as role models and advisors to other students, and by completing projects and presenting them as part of the learning environment. Students work with their teacher to develop a weekly work plan known in traditional teaching circles as a personal learning plan (PLP) so that they know and can reach academic standards and personal growth. This practice allows students to be in control of their own learning path, chart their own progress, recognize areas of strength and weakness, and actively reflect on their own learning. The work plan enables teachers and students to track their own growth and progression towards mastery. Our students work towards personal goals, not simply getting exposure, but diving deeply into topics and projects. The students’ work is profoundly relevant to each student through the personalized learning plans, student-generated projects, and consistent work with families and the local community. The small learning environment becomes a true community in which respect for and connection with each other is paramount. Restorative justice, “Love and Logic”, class and school gatherings are central components to creating this powerful place of lifelong learning. Adapted in part from the pedagogical framework of High Desert Montessori School, the work of Maria Montessori and the vision of Buena Vista Montessori School.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Colorado Springs, CO 80906 | (719) 635-1536
Founded in 1987, CPCD was spun-off from Catholic Charities to simply manage the Head Start program in El Paso County. At that time, CPCD was funded to serve 300 children. We now reach nearly six times that number through Head Start, Early Head Start and the Colorado Preschool Program. CPCD now serves 1,899 families with children, ages 0-5, who are living in limited-income households, have special needs or are experiencing other difficult circumstances that could challenge their readiness for kindergarten. Last year, CPCD's waiting list topped 1,000. The agency operates 60 classrooms in six local school districts. In addition to education, CPCD provides health, behavioral health, transportation, nutrition, home visits and family services. CPCD currently employs approximately 350 staff members. Both of these numbers may increase as we continue our ongoing expansion.
