This daycare is an amazing place for children to grow and learn. I worked here for 2 years and the environment is so loving and you feel at home. The children have so much fun outside during playtime and inside the classroom. When it is time for kids to go home they don't want to leave. The location is excellent and the children are always safe and our #1 priority. I enjoyed working here and am going to miss all the lovely children.
I want to preface this review by saying that I have worked with children across many settings and have over 10 years experience caring for them. After working here for about two weeks I had to leave, which was really sad for me. There were red flags from the beginning, but I thought that I would be able to help solve the problems that were going on because of my prior experience in behavior modification. Then one day there was a potty training incident that happened which changed everything for me. I was asked to physically force a two year old to sit on the toilet for 20 minutes (which of course I declined because 2 mins would be a lifetime for a 2-3 year old and I've potty trained other toddlers before and force is NOT good practice!). I filed a complaint with the licensing board, but I didn't have any proof besides my word. The reason behind such extreme tactics that was given to me by the child care provider was that the child always poops in his diaper during nap time, which to me is pretty standard for an average 2-3 year old. A lot of what I saw when I was working here broke my heart and if I were a parent I would certainly not want my child spending time in an environment so conducive to stress and manipulation as this one. It seems as though the owner means well, but she doesn't have any imaginative or resourceful ways of redirecting behavior(s). She yells a lot, insults the children, and puts them in time outs for very long periods of time, which requires them to be silent and sit out of growth and learning opportunities. The kids miss out a lot on opportunities to learn how to interact positively with one another because she is unwilling or unable to teach them how to do so. She doesn't seem to get any joy out of caring for them unless they are doing exactly what she wants them to do. There are so many rules and when not followed perfectly, children are verbally reprimanded harshly and reminded constantly of their infractions. I would not recommend this daycare, especially not if your child has special needs. If your child doesn't have any problem behaviors, they will certainly develop them here. Sending love to all of the children and parents who will read this who have placed their child in the care of this daycare. I hope that you will take my report and my concerns at face value and know that the experiences I have seen your children go through in the care of this center make up a big portion of the weight on my conscience. I wish I had been better equipped to fix all of the problems, because knowing that what went on there while I was working continues to go on under state licensing just tears me to pieces.
