We have used this center for years. They have a lovely staff and go above and beyond to take care of us and our children. They also have a near perfect state compliance record- best I've seen in the Augusta area. All of the families we know here are very happy.
We had a horrible experience here under the current director! I will not send my daughter here ever again! I approached the director numerous times over my issue of my daughter not getting changed as frequently as she should have. She would come home with extremely full diapers that had not been changed in hours. Her daily sheet even documented that she had not been changed since 11am one day. I then requested for her to be changed when I got there at 4:30pm. I immediately spoke to the director about this and without even checking into the situation she assured me that I was wrong and it must have been a situation where the employee "failed to document" and she would speak to them about better documentation. About I week later I dropped my daughter off for a 4 hour time period. When I got her home, she was in the exact same diaper that I dropped her off in. Full with a bm. I know this was the same diaper because the Sunshine House provides diapers. She had come home in the same brand of diapers since she started there. My daughter arrived that day around 10:15 as documented on her daily sheet. When looking at her sheet for the day it's said she was changed at 8:15, 10:22, & 11. She was not even present at the center at 8:15am. The employees were obviously carelessly marking the sheet to satisfy parents like me that read the sheet in detail to make sure they are following protocol. The director seemed to care less that the situation had occurred when I spoke to her. She said she bet they just got the kids sheets mixed up. She called me about 20 minutes after speaking to her and asked me to describe what the diaper looked like that my daughter came home in (The same brand I sent her in). I did, and believe it or not she found the exact same type, same size on the shelf and that must have been what was put on her. Such a coincidence. Moral of the story, I would not send your child here if you want honest people caring for them. I felt lied to numerous times and my daughter was clearly not receiving the care she should have been.
