Melissa Shaw showed us the entire set up in the beginning. Nap room in the house, inside area for studying and play and the outside area which was covered and enclosed, along with the outdoor play set. On a few of occasions, I came early to pick up my child who was napping in an old stroller in the covered outdoor area. It was very hot outside. My child was dirty most times I picked him up. I would review the camera system that they had, which showed my child sitting in a high chair for long periods of time. I observed a child using the bathroom behind a shed. I never once observed my child actually in the nap room or indoor area that was originally showed to me. On camera and in person, it was always outside. There were times that Melissa's two boys would line people up and seem to give things to those that they liked and make the other kids stay in line for those they didn't. I hardly ever saw Melissa actually interact with the children. Her mom was the "creative" person, but was clear she only did that from 10am-2pm. There were other people that watched the children for the most part. It appeared that this family was doing it for the money. They would show you one way that they would be cared for, but over time I felt that it was subpar. I removed my child from this facility. My child's behavior improved dramatically as a result. I do not recommend Shaw family day care.
