Description: Shasta Head Start is a private, nonprofit corporation which was formed in 1965 to provide high quality child care and social services to low income children and their families.

Each year we offer this array of services in Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity counties to approximately 1,200 families including children from birth -5, and pregnant mothers. In an effort to provide individualized services and to meet the needs of families; we offer infant, toddler, preschool and programs for pregnant mothers in classroom or home visiting options. We make every effort to match the program with the family's need.
Although our rural service area is wide spread, our locations are completely linked technologically to our administrative office which provides substantial support. Each location in our tri-county area is planned based on the needs of the community served. We have approximately 25 locations, each one unique to the culture and makeup of the area they serve.
