Pride and Joy Academy has been in business since 2003. Our philosophy is simple – children come first and local and state regulations are strictly adhered to for the benefit and protection of our children and staff. We provide a safe, clean, and fun-filled educational environment for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
Our director, Roberta Dorsey brings a wealth of knowledge in Early Childhood Education. Roberta has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development; an A.A. Degree in Early Childhood Development and she is licensed by Texas Department of Family and Children as a Day Care Director. Mrs. Dorsey also serves as a Professional Development Specialist with the Council of Washington Professional Development agency.
Mrs. Dorsey has spent over 24 years in Early Childhood Development and believes high-quality early education prepares children for the years to come. Her passion and experience has allowed her to serve in numerous capacities in the Tarrant County area. She has worked with Head Start/Early Head Start for 23 years serving as a Pre-K Teacher, Disability Specialist, Quality Assurance Specialist, Director and Regional Director. Mrs. Dorsey’s mission is to ensure all children receive as much support to enhance their overall development.
Mrs. Dorsey believes in educating and training staff on developmentally appropriate practices that support children individually and as a group. She has committed to a Code of Ethical Conduct that includes but not limited to:
- Appreciating childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle
- Base knowledge of how children develop and learn
- Appreciates and supports the bond between the child and family
- Respects the diversity, dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each individual child, family member, and colleague
