Description: Child care centers is a concept developed over 20 years ago as a result of more women moving into the workforce resulting in an increasing need for child care predominantly for infants through preschool children. In response to this need, New Bridge Baptist Church developed a feasibility study to determine the magnitude of the need for child care services in the immediate area that included a survey among its membership and surrounding community. The Church also recently acquired property adjacent to the church to answer the call of its congregation to serve mothers in need. Shortly afterwards, New Bridge Baptist Church acted as a sponsoring agent and developed a child care center program to operate separately from the Church as a non-profit organization in which the Church will provide space for the center. The New Bridge Baptist Church Child Care Center opened its doors on September 7, 1997 with an initial enrollment of 25 students. The child care center is located at 5803 Nine Mile Road in Richmond, VA overseen by the church and directed by Mrs. Sheila V. Muse.
