Description: A wonderful word: muse. Goddesses to the ancient Greeks, the Muses inspired all forms of art. Today, to muse is to become absorbed in thought. Here at MUSE School we honor both understandings. We believe (and research confirms) that learning is artful, joyful, and authentic when it stems from personal interest. Our rich atmosphere also nurtures deep investigation and powerful learning.
Students at MUSE are both known and respected, resulting in powerful relationships with peers and adults. We are equally committed to respecting and understanding our home, the earth we occupy and share. By living in the most sustainable ways possible, we bring “being green” to a new level in education. MUSE students learn outside as often as possible. They come to know their local ecology as a model for understanding larger systems. They plant, harvest, study, and help serve organic produce from their own gardens.
We are equally committed to supporting a sustainable human ecology. We invest time and attention in how we relate to peers and how we can support one another. This investment includes every member of our community: students, teachers, staff, and parents. The “MUSE community” is more than a catchy phrase. It is vibrant and a necessary contributor to a process which results in effective and resilient children.
