We were with Kayla (Caterpillars to Butterflies daycare) for 4 1/2 years (2016-2020). There were good days and there were bad days. Some good things are that Kayla would do crafts with the kids and they would come home with their activities for the day. She feed the kids healthy meals.
Some of the bad things were:
She received a violation from the state of Minnesota on 5/13/2019 for unsupervised children and did not inform us of this incident.
The policies for the Kayla’s daycare had change numerous times. Including the time she would be open and close daily.
Another policy change was paying her when her children are sick and when she is sick.
Every year we’ve kept track of how many times the daycare was closed and it was always an average about a month per year.
After she had come back from maternity leave she again changed her contract. We decided to decline the new contract and put our two weeks notice in. When advising Kayla about putting our two weeks notice in it was very disturbing. When I went to pick up my child, Kayla and her husband Ben had started yelling and ganged up on me and not letting me talk. They kept yelling saying you won’t find cheaper or better daycare and such. It was a very unprofessional setting and I left in tears. At that point I felt like I was not going to be bringing my two kids back to her. Later that evening of letting her know about the two weeks notice I received several disturbing text messages from Kayla. Kayla advised us that my kids were terminated from her daycare the same day we had put in our two weeks notice. Then she proceeded to say our daughters things would be outside and said in her text “I hope her things don’t blow away” and texted “Laugh out loud”. We already had been looking for a new daycare for awhile before this, due to we felt that it was for our kids and our best interest.
