About the Provider

Description: The Early years of a child's life are the most important for developmental growth. Research shows that the emotional, physical and intellectual environments during a child's first 5 years have a major impact on how his/her brain develops. The experiences children have with parents and teachers affect their success and well being in school and throughout their life. La Jolla Preschool Academy fosters this growth by providing a safe and stimulating environment. We promote development of the "whole child"-socially, emotionally, intellectually, creatively and physically.

CLASS A VIOLATION!

It is very disheartening to write this review. However, as a parent looking for childcare myself, I felt obligated to share my experience.

My child started in the infant room in the middle of July. I got to the school around 5:15 to pick up my child. There was no one to be found in the infant room so I kept walking through to the B class room. There I found my child. When I walked back in to the infant room to gather my daughters belongings, I noticed a little girl was in a crib, all alone. It wasn't long after I had noticed the little girl, that her father came in the door. The teacher on duty came in and the father had asked why his child was all alone in the classroom. The teacher simply responded, "I am so sorry, I totally forgot." SHE FORGOT THAT SHE HAD ANOTHER CHILD IN HER CARE!! Since then, that teacher has been fired. A few days later, I pick my daughter up from school and that evening she was throwing up throughout the night. The next morning I went in early to ask her teachers if she by chance got a hold of some food yesterday that did not belong to her (as she gets sick from wheat, oatmeal, rice etc). Miss Amy's response was, "I may have given her crackers, but I don't remember". When I wrote in my daughters application to please only give the food provided from home, I simply meant not to give my daughter any food not from home. On the 29th of August I dropped my daughter off at 11:30. Our agreement was 11:45 so when Sandi (the director) approached me that morning and said that I was dropping off a little early, I was a little taken back considering I was paying for a full 30 hours a week (3 full days) and my daughter was only utilizing MAYBE 25 of those hours. I offered to grab my daughter for 15 minutes and she said "no, I was just reminding you of our agreement"
Later that same day, I get to the school to pick up my daughter to find a termination letter attached to her sign in/out sheet. The letter states "Due to today's accusation, your response to my reminder about drop off times....we need to terminate our business relationship with you." Any parent who is paying for 30 hours would have reacted the same way I did over 15 minutes. I feel because my family was part of the CLASS A VIOLATION on 8/6/17 that we were targeted and they were just looking for reasons to kick us out. I really hope that my experience was just a hoax and that they do not treat another family the same way. Due to the circumstances I was out of work for 3 weeks trying to find child care for my daughter. My recommendation is exhausting all other opportunities before putting all your eggs in this basket.
