Description: My name is Evanthia and I am the owner of Early Milestones home daycare. My home is located in the quiet neighborhood of Dunning in Chicago, walking distance from O.A. Thorp Scholastic Academy, the Smyser Primary Center and St. Pascal School. I have a college degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago and I also have hands on experience raising three children of my own. Throughout the years, I have worked and volunteered in a variety of school settings both in the private and public school sector. As a caregiver, I strive to provide children with a comfortable and nurturing learning environment that feels just like home while their parents work and/or attend school. I believe that children learn best through play and I understand that a child’s play time is essential to his/her cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. I provide the children in my care with multiple opportunities throughout the day for both self-directed and structured play activities to help them enhance their confidence, learn how to share, learn to negotiate and resolve conflicts, and make sense about the world that surrounds them. Through play, I encourage and support pre-literacy skills in a fun manner. I provide a nurturing and caring environment for infants by implementing flexible daily schedules and routines. The infants in my care follow a daily routine that is tailored to each child’s individual needs and is consistent with the routines that parents have established for their child. The toddlers in my program participate in a variety of play activities and are encouraged to explore their environment and follow their interests. A balance of structured and free play will help your toddler to acquire new skills, explore, build, and problem solve in a caring and nurturing environment. The preschool age children in my care are provided with multiple opportunities to socialize with one another and develop confidence in themselves. Your preschooler will practice listening skills, learn to take turns, and develop more sophisticated self-help skills to establish their independence. My goal is to provide individualized care and attention to each one of the children in my care while encouraging and supporting their growth.
