Description: As a university laboratory school, we aim to lead through excellence and innovation as we train undergraduate and graduate students in child development theory, research and its applications, while implementing national and state standards for quality toddler, preschool and kindergarten programs.
We provide resources to parents and community members in child development and strategies for meeting the needs of special populations, including dual language learners. We welcome all university majors to observe, participate and learn in a nurturing, diverse educational environment.
The program has gone down hill. No longer a Lab 'School'...Overcrowded classrooms, unfriendly administrators, and chaotic 'daycare' atmosphere...very unhappy with my experience, consequently I pulled my child from the program.
My son went to The Lab and I feel he is a better person for it. The foundation the school provides is second to none. He went at 3,4 and at 5 years old, he attended Kindergarten at the school. He was reading chapter books to the class in Kindergarten! My son was well ahead of his 1st grade class when he attended public school. As a mom what I enjoyed is the full time hours and the cook on site. They actually serve a hot meal daily! Don't hesitate to long, the classes fill up quickly.
My step-son and daughter LOVE LOVE LOVE IT here. My step-son is now in public school and is extremely prepared for school. Many times he says he is bored because he learned everything in his Pre-K 5 classroom! My daughter has ben in the school since she turned one and the staff is like family to us. The students move up to the next room are really form great relationships with their peers! She has many"best friends". :-) The center is treated like a school. They start in late August/ earlt September and end in June. The school has inservice days, teacher confrences and holidays that follow the Capital School District. There are 4 classrooms: Toddler (1&2 yrs), Pre-K3, Pre-K4 and Pre-K5 for those students who have late birthdays (like my children)! You can also opt to keep your children at the center for their Kindergarten year and it will transfer to your local school for 1st grade. The school has MANY activites that the children can partcipate in including parades, fashions shows, family dinners, and fundraisers.
A HUGE PLUS IS THAT IS THE CHEAPEST PRESCHOOL AROUND! Breakfast, lunch and pm snack are included. Its a great school with lots of loving staff without a huge price tag!
