About the Provider

Description: My program is based on free play and exploration. We spend a lot of time outside. I feel fresh air is very important. We read a lot of books and do many art projects. We have a small gentleman's farm that the children love to help with. I go over basic preschool materials.

I have used this provider for less than 6 months

I met Kirsten on a positive note, she told me she would take care of my 3 month old like her own, and that she would make sure all of his needs are met.
The first week my infant was brought there, (keep in mind he was an early teether, which she knew about) she called me 2 times telling me "I don't know what your schedule is like but he's being really fussy and keeps putting his fists in his mouth. So those two days she had called me by 11:00 am when I had dropped him off by 7:45 am. (Even though I had to pick him up upon her request, I still had to pay her) I had to leave my work to go and big my infant up. However, when I had him he was perfectly happy and barely fussy. It took me a couple days to realize he is fussing not just because of his teeth but because he wanted attention, which he wasn't getting. Those two days that I picked him up a couple comments she had said to me was, "I can't do anything with him, he likes to be held." and "I hate it when they are teething." Keep in mind this is the first week that I brought him. Then one other day she called me asking me if I could pick my child up from work early because her child needed to go to the store and get store supplies. I understood maybe an hour early but calling to get my infant at 2:00 pm (normally picking my infant up at 5:00) so that she could take her children to the store, all I could think about was "She wants $175.00 a week, how am I supposed to be able to afford that when all she keeps doing is having me pick my infant up!" However, I stayed calm, cool, and collected, and picked my child up. I figured you know we all have rough days, and we all forget things sometimes. However, the next day I dropped him off at 7:45am she ended up being sick and called me at work saying she was puking and that Tanner needs to be picked up. So instead of just letting me know ahead of time so I could prepare for my day she let me drop him off, go all the way to work, (which when I got there to pick my child up she had a temp. sitter) just to call me 45 minutes later saying I needed to pick him up.. (She ended up telling me I would not be charged for that day...THANK GOODNESS) HOWEVER, the next day was a friday (keep in mind it is the day after she was "sick"), I ended up picking my child up around 4:45 instead of 5:00 and I pull in and SHE IS IN THE POOL WITH HER CHILDREN! MY CHILD WAS ALONE IN HIS CAR SEAT SITTING IN THE HOT SUN, AND SHE WAS IN THE POOL! How is she supposed to meet the needs of my child if she is in the pool with her own children! Leaving my son in the hot sun was not okay with me. I was very upset, however, when she noticed it was me pulling up, she got out of the pool but said, "I don't want to drip on him." My thoughts were "Thanks, but what happens if there was something that happened to him since you have dogs (big dogs which I was told were fenced in) and left him unattended while you were playing with your own children in the pool." She instructed me to go inside and get all of his stuff, and that she was staying out there. At that point I knew I couldn't bring him there again, I wasn't happy and I didn't feel like he was getting the attention he needed or deserved. She would admit she put him in the swing and all he did was fuss. I get told all the time I got lucky with my child, he is calm, and happy, all he needs is to be talked to and loves to look around.
He does not like to stay still. She has had six kids of her own, now why would she treat mine so differently. She even let her own daughter play in his car seat, and go through his bag of stuff that I had left with her for the week and said to me "Did you realize that there was less clothes in your bag than what you brought, my daughter hid them in her room to pack her own dollies bag, and she put her dolly in the carseat and strapped her in." I did not feel comfortable, her daughter was putting herself in my childs infant carseat and using my childs clothes to play with her dolls, I brought my childs stuff for Kirsten to utilize, not let her daughter play with them. I was only there for that short time and within those couple weeks, I know that is not what I am looking for in a daycare provider!
