Philosophies/ Regulations

I believe that good childcare depends upon consistent caregiving no matter age, race, color, sex, creed, handicap, national origin or ancestry in a home-like atmosphere.  I have also studied child abuse and neglect because, Children grow and learn best in a safe environment that provides opportunities to explore, create and communicate with other children and adults. The Center’s program is designed to include both planned and spontaneous activities in response to children’s interests.  Experiences with music, movement, art, language and building are incorporated into daily plans.  Regularly scheduled snacks and meals, rest time, indoor and outdoor play, and routines in physical caregiving promotes the child’s health, comfort and ability to care for his/herself.  There is maximum flexibility for the children as a group and as individuals. Children are encouraged to develop a positive self-image, to learn inner controls and to cooperate with peers and caregivers.  Clearly defined limits help them recognize and accept their emotions and express their feelings as they grow and feel secure in the world around them. I am a firm believer that no child is left behind, or left out here at my daycare. Always providing the up most care for all children, we are all here together. No child will go hungry. There will be absolutely no fire arms on property! No smoking anywhere in the home or around children. I am located in Hubbard, Ohio of course in the township area. There are various bus routes available here for the Hubbard Public Schools. My program is inexpensive, the hours of operation work with the working families working hours. I will be accepting publicly funded and private paid families. All fees and expenses will be discussed during interview.

A new contract will be signed by all families at the beginning of each year. I reserve the right to make changes in policies as I deem necessary. You will be notified, in writing, of any changes that may occur.

 Policies/Procedures

I am a licensed family home daycare provider, with many years of babysitting experience. I also have been a mother for the past 6 years, while I did some daycare work on the side. I am trained in CPR, First Aid, and Communicable Disease, also trained with health and safety. I have last but not the least passed the FBI & BCI background checks.

Hours of Operation

-Open 24 hours, 6 days a week

Open Holiday’s

Arrivals and departures

All parents must give me a schedule at least one week in advance. All children must be signed in and out daily, if you are publicly funded child care you must swipe your card daily by a parent or an authorized person. Co-pays shall be paid on the first day your childcare should be used. All swipes will need to be swiped by Saturday that week. If you are unable to swipe your card you will be responsible for private pay rates that week.

If parents are unable to bring their child to daycare on a scheduled day, they must be reported off. Parents cannot just drop their children off at any time they so desire, I have to have a schedule one week in advance.

Children will not be released to anybody who is not on the enrollment form without prior approval from parent. A picture ID will be required by the authorized person picking up the child.

Getting to know the families

Parents are always welcome to bring food for your child for the day, but if sufficient food is not provided food will be provided. Food will be provided through Child Care Connection.

I believe that a positive relationship with families of the children is very important of being familiar with their unique characteristics, strengths and issues important to each of them.  To develop partnerships with the families we create a Welcoming environment and opportunities for involvement, we will always need to communicate by ways like:

•Daily or weekly bulletins

•Telephone calls

•E-mails

•Daily sheets

The list goes on for ways of communication.

Discipline Policy

In the event that a child’s behavior is likely to result in harm to the child, others or property, or seriously disrupts group interaction, the child may be separated briefly from the group. The child will be taken up to the office to sit where he/she can gain enough self-control to rejoin the group. The child will always be left in an area where he/she is in full view of.

SIGNING IN AND OUT

Parents are responsible for signing children in and out.  This procedure is extremely important for attendance records and safety measures in emergencies.  There is a sign in/sign out sheet posted at the entrance.

AUTHORIZATION TO RELEASE A CHILD

Children will only be released to those who are on my release form, with proper ID. If you do not have ID I will not release children, for the child’s safety.

Health

To help prevent the spread of childhood diseases and illnesses, PLEASE do not bring your ill child to daycare.

If your child becomes ill, we will always stay separated from other children. While keeping your ill child comfortable, we will notify a parent or guardian of child’s condition. Child shall not return to daycare until better.

If and or when an emergency does occur, because you can never be cautious enough with the little ones. I will hold the right to call emergency officials and you will be notified.

On file, I will always need a copy of a current medical statement from your child’s physician form, (#1932) it does need to be signed if they are under the age of 5 years old. This form allows me to recognize if your child has all of his or her immunizations. Children without immunizations must have form #01305, Child Medical Statement, this form would need to be completed by a physician. If prescribed medication is needed, I will need to see prescription from the child’s pediatrician for medicine to be given. Children’s vaccination’s need to be current and on file.

Infants

Parents are also responsible for providing formula, and or cereal if needed.  I do have Spring Water available to make bottles, for you.  I do believe in a feeding schedule for babies and or toddlers, there will be a feeding log available for you to know when and how much your infant consumed.

Parents are also responsible for providing diapers, wipes, and ointment. Diapers will be changed frequently as needed when wet or soiled, usually on a 2-hour rotational schedule or as often as possible. There will also be a log available for diaper changes for the day and time.

Napping and resting time is always a good thing, to ensure your little ones are always in the most upright best moods. To be sure they are enjoying their time while at my daycare with other little ones.

While infants are in my care you should also pack and extra outfit or two, because I sure know while babies eat, there may be an accident.  I do not want them to sit in soiled clothing.

There is a location on site for mothers to breastfeed, and/ or pump breast milk in the back playroom.

Napping/Resting

Napping and resting time is always encouraged, a set nap time will be after lunch. Lunch is scheduled 12:00 thru 12:45 pm, all children will have quite time if a nap is not required. When napping infant/toddler will lay on their backs in pack and plays and provided resting areas.

Security

All doors and windows are locked in the evening hours, the day time is just as necessary to keep children safe at all times.

      Pets in my home

I do currently have four indoor cats, they do not go outside. They are properly taken care of and maintained, all shots and vaccinations are current and up to date.

             Discipline

Discipline should be used to teach children. We offer a time out area, where children can sit alone to think about what they did wrong. If this is an ongoing issue and problem can- not be fixed, then the child will need to go to another daycare.

Drills and safety procedures

Fire Drills are practiced each month and documented, a fire evacuation plan is posted with directions on where to go.

Tornado Drills are practiced each month and documented

Lock Downs- If I am ever notified of an emergency situation that requires a lock down. All children will remain inside, all doors and windows are locked. All door and windows will remain locked until further instructions are given by the authorities.
