My children have attended BCBG for nearly 4 years, and I and they could not be happier. The quality of care they receive there is unparalleled. Never do I worry for one second about my children's wellbeing. The owners and the teachers are engaged, caring and kind people -- all of them past and present teachers. Knowing the owners, I suspect the same would be true of future teachers. The owners foster an atmosphere of inclusion and open-dialogue with parents, which creates an intimate space between parents, children and child care staff. The language immersion program is unique to childcare centers in Bloomington and top-notch. The food is healthy (and organic) and with an international flair. My children eat better at school then we do at home! As for learning, I credit the school for their approach to play-based learning, which is in fact a complex phenomenon. Play learning manifests in so many different ways -- symbolic, active, process-oriented and just plain ol' fun. And in all these ways the children advance intellectually and socially by leaps and bounds. In all my years there, I have encountered only a few frustrations. I was not thrilled about their new location, which is next to an incredibly busy road. But after seeing the great efforts made by the owners to create safe, natural playscapes in the perimeter, including reinforced spaces to increase safety and decrease noise pollution, I felt more at ease. The interior spaces are great -- clean, organized, filled with activities. In any case, I have always been able to frankly discuss any of my concerns with the owners and the teachers without consequence. Including my concerns about the new location. In fact, the owners are always asking for parental input, and are usually very sensitive to and constructive about addressing the needs of children and parents. All in all, an incredibly positive, happy experience for my family with BCBG.
