    Are you compassionate, enthusiastic about preschoolers, creative and have a desire to instill the Christian faith in children?  Little Esko Lutheran Preschool, a faith-based, school-year preschool for children ages 3-5 years, is currently seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our classroom this September.  We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and has a passion for preparing children for kindergarten.  

    The Assistant Teacher works in a classroom with the Director, from 8 a.m. - noon weekdays.  Our school, located in St. Matthews Lutheran Church, is licensed for 20 children per day. We teach 4-5 year olds on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and 3 year olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We use the Creative Curriculum, as well as a teacher-created faith curriculum.  Our school also is applying for a rating through the state’s Parent Aware program, which will provide access to staff for free and low-cost continuing education.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    --Manage individualized and quality care of children in a preschool setting

    --Participate in a team approach to meet teaching requirements

    --Assist with planning and implementing curriculum

    --Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur, including administration of First Aid or CPR

    --Provide a welcoming environment that encourages parent interaction

    --Complete annual continuing education training hours as mandated by state

    --Maintain a clean and sanitized teaching environment

    --Timely attendance and documentation of all required school data

    --Attendance at Fall Orientation, Parent/Teacher Conferences (twice/year), Spring Open House and Monthly Preschool Board Meetings

     

     

  • Job Requirements

    Preferred Qualifications

        Preschool teaching experience or prior work in a child care center

        Strong communication skills (both in-person and digital)

        Dependable, punctual and demonstrated success working in a team setting

        Possess current First Aid/CPR certificate or must be able to obtain prior to employment

        Must pass a background study

        Ability to kneel, bend, stoop and sit on floor with children
