Little Lambs Preschool is a non profit ministry based out of Trinity Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist School. Our mission being to serve the families of Vermont, we provide a loving, safe, and exciting environment for children to learn and grow. Our children enjoy Bible lessons and songs every morning, and learn how to make good choices in their young lives. We teach letters, numbers, seasons, and other subjects with the Bob Jones Press curriculum. This high quality program encourages children to love learning, be independent, and explore the world around them. We sing songs and read several books every day. The children enjoy playing on our beautiful playground and sometimes we even have picnics! Our creative teachers help the children with arts and crafts that will be treasured by families for years to come. Our trained and kind teachers are full of the energy needed to keep up with little ones. They show unhindered kindness and love to each child regardless of ethnicity or family background. We love how multicultural our program has become in the past few years. We are available for tours and program observations by prospective families. Please call 802-979-9007 to schedule a tour. Children need a "child-friendly" environment that is safe, caring, and comfortable and will promote equally all areas of a child's development; physical, social, emotional and intellectual. Childen should be provided balance, a variety of activities, and types of involvement that takes into consideration all the different learning syles. There must be enough flexiblity within these planned offerings to spontaneously accommodate group or individual needs, unexpected circumstances or parental visits. Opportunities to learn how to function effectively within a group setting and becoming aware of the needs of others, while at the same time being accepted as an individual, are also very important to a young child's development and should be considered in any program.
Our teachers plan their curriculum according to themes or emergent curriculum. Activities are planned according to age and skills. Our infants are busy all day long. We support their growth and development with music, singing, reading, and sensory activities. If weather permits, our infants explore the outdoors riding in our quadruple strollers or on the playground. Older infants are introduced to projects including non-toxic crayons and paint under supervision of our teachers. Toddler and Preschool rooms are arranged in centers reflecting the childrens skills and development. Learning areas include water/sensory table that is filled with various items such as sand, oatmeal, flour, and rice; blocks & transportation; dramatic & house area; reading & quiet area; gross motor or active center; and manipulative area. Our older students also participate in daily circle or meeting times where they learn new songs, finger plays, and learn interesting facts regarding the current topic of study. Our preschoolers are introduced to numbers and the calendar. They also practice learning to count confidently, participate in group discussions and learn the weekdays, months, and year. Our activities throughout the day include science, arts & crafts, gym, free play, and an introduction to foreign languages and different cultures. During the year, preschoolers will be introduced to the alphabet, early phonics, and letter writing. A large motor area is used to offer our students exercise and play. We also develop many activities that focus on early literacy skills, and those occur throughout the day in all classrooms. Weekly or monthly activity calendars are either posted or available in the three younger rooms, but they are flexible and are used as a guide throughout the day. The preschool classroom utilizes an emergent curriculum, so activities and projects are based on the interests of the children and directed by their own desire for learning and exploration. Newsletters are used to communicate the different topics and subjects that the children choose to explore. Our teachers provide parents with daily sheets or announcements and communicate with parents verbally. Many classrooms also have white boards that are used to document the days' activities. Our academic year is scheduled from September through Mid-June. In mid-June we start our summer program with walks, water play, exploration and more field trips. Circle time and projects continue to be offered; however, we spend a lot of time outside on nice days.
