The Pa-Paw Patch is a childcare center in the heart of Vale, NC dedicated to providing quality childcare.  The center is owned and operated by two generations of women who understand the importance of providing a safe environment for children to grow.

All 5 of the following activity areas were not available daily to each group art/creative play, children's books, blocks/blockbuilding, manipulatives, family living/dramatic play. In space #4, I also observed there was no art center available for the children to access. The teacher stated the art materials were in her cabinet. The teacher created an art activity area in the classroom today using the materials she had available in the closet.

When three year old children and older were in care, the materials and equipment in the activity area was not in sufficient quantity to allow at least three children to use the area regardless of whether the children choose the same or different activities. In space #4, for two-and- three-year old children, I observed in the language center the only activity available was books. You placed a flannel board and flannel characters, and puppets in the language center during my visit.

All equipment and furnishings were not in good repair. In the playground for used by the three and four-year old children, I observed a metal car climbing structure. The metal tunnel and frame of the car is rusted. You removed the rusted climbing structure out of the play area today.

All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. In space #6, for three-and four-year old children, I observed on a shelf in an unlocked cabinet an aerosol can of Lysol Disinfectant. The teacher placed the Lysol Disinfectant in the locked closet.

Parent's medication authorization did not include required information. I observed one bottle of "Gripe Water" and one container of saline drops with the permission to administer written on the permission slip that is supposed to be used to diaper creams and other topical ointments. The medication permission forms the parents had completed for the Gripe Water and Saline Drops also indicated that the products be administered “as needed”.

In space #1, there were three (3) small bottles of hand sanitizer not located out of reach. In space #5, a staff purse was located in a closet with the key hanging in the door.

In space #2, one tube of Boudraux Butt Paste expired 07/2021. In space #2, one diaper cream permission to administer expired on 7/15/2021, one diaper cream permission to administer expired on 6/20/2021 and one diaper cream to administer expired on 8/17/2021. One sunscreen permission to administer expired on 6/14/2021.

In space #6, there were two (2) bottles of SCJ Refresh Antibac Foam hand cleaner with Keep out of Reach of Children with additional warnings located in an unlocked cabinet.

My granddaughters love their daycare . The staff are so caring . The daycare has so many activities for their kids . I would recommend this daycare .
