Description: The Sunshine Schoolhouse was founded in 2004 in Corning, CA. We have two centers located next door to each other. Our location at 912 Solano St. is our Educational Day Care Program and our location at 918 Solano St. is our Preschool Program. Our two programs work together with our curriculum, children’s schedules and fun events. We believe it is essential to separate our Preschool and Daycare programs so that each center can focus on their different aspects of Early Childhood Education.
The Sunshine Schoolhouse is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit educational organization. We are a private program that was founded to give the children of our community a strong foundation and a love of learning for their educational futures.
In addition to all of the wonderful things we do every day, our school also has a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). Most of the focus is on parent involvement, volunteering and general support for our teachers and school administrator. The PTO was set up to help support extra projects and activities that fall outside of the school’s regular budget.Some of the recent successes have been: Participation in the Corning Homecoming Parade, field trip to Julia’s Pumpkin Patch, parent contributions and volunteering for the Halloween parties. Some future goals the PTO is working toward is a Sunshine Schoolhouse Valentine’s Program, playground improvements and a school garden. The PTO also uses funds to help with costs for parties and school activities to take the burden off of parents. Our non-profit status gives us a unique advantage for creative and community oriented fundraising.
