Please be sure that there is no soft bedding in the pack n plays or cribs with any child using a crib or pack n play. There was also a soft cushion/foam added to the same pack n play under the sheet. | Findings: Upon arrival the provider was outdoors with 5 children. It was quickly learned that there was a 13 month old child inside alone, sleeping in the basement. The child was in a pack n play and the child was asleep inside. The child was visible through the closed sliding glass door. In order to access the child the provider would need to go down a flight of 8 cement steps and open the door. This non-compliance was corrected when the provider and other children went inside, and the baby woke up. Provider indicated understanding of the need to provide more close supervision. | Findings: Upon arrival the provider was outdoors with 5 children. There was a 13 month old child inside. The child was in a pack n play and the child was asleep inside. The child was visible through the closed sliding glass door. In order to access the child the provider would need to go down 8 cement steps and open the door and walk inside the house. The provider couldn't hear the baby from outdoors. This sleeping baby was not within sound of the provider. If the provider turned to see another child or walk away from the top of the staircase to tend to another child then the provider couldn't see or hear the baby. All resting infants are to be within sight and sound of the provider. The provider states that she has been doing this since she moved here in 2004. Lic. Spec. explained that this should never have been recommended but that the current regulations don't allow this. The provider and other children did go inside within minutes which corrected this non-compliance. The provider explained that sometimes her husband/sub is available to stay inside with a resting baby, but today he wasn't available until after the baby woke up from her morning nap. | |||
