PAT-A-CAKE IN BRIEF
We’re a non-profit, fully licensed and insured, all-day Christian preschool and daycare center in Greenwich, CT. We welcome children of all faiths.
We offer programs for infants (3–18 months), toddlers (18–36 months), and preschoolers (3–5 years).
We offer 12-month, 10-month, and summer programs. Children can start attending any time of year.
We provide all the benefits of an enriching preschool environment with longer child care hours.
OUR PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
Pat-A-Cake’s early childhood education program emphasizes teaching the “whole child.” We strive to meet each child’s individual needs, to evaluate his or her particular stage of development, and teach accordingly.
As a Christian childcare center, we believe in the uniqueness of every child God has created. We use encouragement and praise to build on strengths, notice what is right, and work to create a sense of self-worth and significance for each child. We embrace children of every cultural background and welcome children of all faiths.
We engage children in various age appropriate and stimulating activities. Such activities help develop a range of social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative, and verbal skills. We believe learning is more meaningful when it can be directly related to a child’s environment, daily activities, and experiences. Through “hands on” play experience children can readily benefit from this approach.
To this end, creative, resourceful, and flexible planning are key—then honest evaluation and reflection. By cherishing and nurturing each child’s ability to experience wonder, we lay the foundation for their inner spirituality. This also helps foster their emotional growth, their feeling of connectedness to the world, and encourages each child’s desire to learn more.

At Pat-A-Cake we believe that what we do here is as meaningful and important as any work done by anyone, anywhere in the world.
After all, we begin to plant and nourish the seeds of character. Along with you, we help your children begin to learn right from wrong. We teach them to respect others and to share, and we help open their eyes to the beauty of the natural world. In short, we help parents start their children on the journey of becoming happy, confident and healthy individuals and of becoming the best person they can be.
We believe that for children to flourish, they need to feel loved and appreciated. They need to not just hear they’re loved, they need to experience it deeply and “feel it in their bones.” We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to help your children build self-esteem in this way. If what we do is labor, our work at Pat-A-Cake is very much a labor of love.
Along with our entire staff, I deeply appreciate the confidence parents place in us. Every day, five days a week, you trust us with the most precious thing in your life—your children.
Dorothy co-founded Pat-A-Cake in January, 2006 and remains thoroughly involved in the school as its day-to-day Director. She has been an early childcare professional for more than 25 years.
