We took our son out of this daycare after about 4 months. During that time, our son's behavior declined rapidly. He became aggressive and the boy who onc eloved school was claiming to be sick and wanted to stay at home. He's only 2 years old and should love going to school, but he didn't. We had a conference with the director an she actually suggested that weren't being hard enough on him at home and then said we should smack his fingers when he's bad. How can you teach a child to stop hitting by hitting them? Anyway, towards the end, the staff became very cold and distant almost trying to get us to leave without coming out and saying it. We didn't even get a hello in the morning and were completely ignored by the director when we arrived. Not very profssional. The straw that broke the camel's back was when my son told us that he was getting hit...by teachers. We didn't ask him if he was getting hit, nor did we ever think it could happen. He just said it one day. This revelation actually explained a lot...the behavior, the not wanting to go to school. I recall an incident where I had just got there to drop him off and another child yelled. "_____ needs to go in time-out!" He didn't even have his coat hung up yet. What else was going on there? They had labeled my son as the "bad kid" and he was miserable. They don't seem to want to put any effort into kids that are difficult (aka. have a mind of their own) and try topush you out if your child doesn't "conform" (word actually used by the director). I don't want my children to conform and I want their indivdual personalities to be nurtured, not their spirit broken. When we did leave, they didn't even ask why and did all but say "good riddance". Whenever I dropped him off or picked him up the TV was on with kids sitting like zombies sitting in front of it. Apparently, the maintenance guy is also the owner and th husband of the director but uses her maiden name on the business profile...that seemed fishy to me, too. And be careful not to show up 2 minutes past the time you say you will even once or you'll get reprimanded. If you look up this place you may find awards that they have received, but also take a look at the number of daycares in the area and where the awards are coming from. There are very few daycares and the awards are all local. The best thing I did was take my son out of that place.
