Description: Our center and programs are designed with one goal in mind - to create a warm, loving, safe environment where your child develops, learns, and succeeds.
We are an independently owned and operated center in Newtown, CT. Our director has over 25 years of experience in the childcare industry.
We believe in taking a different approach to helping your child learn and grow by having mixed age groups. Children from birth to 5-years-old are constantly learning and taking from their surroundings. They learn not only from adults, but from the other children around them. Throughout the year, special visitors are invited to our classrooms to provide hands-on, interactive learning experiences.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

We absolutely love Little Explorers. I was lucky enough to stay home with our daughter for almost 9 months before she had to be put in daycare, and that made the transition especially difficult for me emotionally, but now that she s been going there for almost a year, I can say with confidence that, even though I still miss her during the day, I never ever worry about her!
Little Explorers is small enough to be extremely personalized but big enough to provide the kind of services and educational supports that all the children need at the right developmental ages. One of the really unique things about this center is that they have combined Infant and Toddler rooms. To me, this has been just amazing on two levels: 1) when my daughter was an infant, I believe she really benefited from seeing older children walking, talking, feeding themselves, and even potty training. She s our first, but she has been able to have the younger sibling benefits. 2) now that she s a toddler, it s been great seeing her interact with the infants. She s really into imaginative play, especially doing mommy things and wanting to feed and otherwise care for babies.
Also, even the infant/toddler rooms follow well-designed curricula, focused especially on play and sensory experiences. Miss Deb posts the lessons every day and it s wonderful to see what my daughter is seeing, doing, and learning that I just would not be able to provide at home without a full classroom of friends!
We also really love that the lead teachers and director have been there for a long time, and there is not terribly high turnover in assistant teachers, either. Every assistant teacher who floats around between classrooms is really capable, professional and, most importantly, excellent with children.
In short, Little Explorers is a wonderful place and I can t recommend it enough.
My son and daughter have been at Little Explores since they were little babies. They help raise them to be respectful, smart and very happy children and I can't say enough great things about the administration, the teachers and the pre-school program. We love, love, love this school.
