Description: First Flight Child Care Center is privately owned company that has operated for Walla Walla Community College since 1989. Owners Bill and Eileen Wolford are highly trained educators who work with their staff and children to provide the best learning experience possible in a safe and healthy environment.

Developmentally appropriate curriculum and practices are used for young children. Activities are implemented with attention to the different needs, interests, and developmental levels of individual children. Although groupings are generally based on the child's age, groupings are flexible and a child may be moved from one group to another to meet special needs. All but the youngest group intermingles freely throughout the school day according to individual interests, needs, differences, and capabilities.

All full time staff members are experienced early childhood educators. They participate in a continuous program of in-service educational studies for professional advancement in order to remain alert to the ever-changing needs of today's families and to the finding of current research.

The center is open to all children, ages six weeks to six years (not already enrolled in kindergarten).

First Flight is owned and also ran by Bill and Eileen Wolford.I am and always will be very displeased with the care of First Flight Child Care. My son, who is one and a half attended for only two days. The second day I arrived to pick my son up at 12:30p.m. and as I walk into the room the Eileen Wolford(co-owner) was in direct care of my child, asks me if I have ever given my child peanut butter, I responded with and yes and then she asked me if he had an allergic reaction, I replied with a no. As I walk around to greet my child, I am shocked with what I find, my son was broken out in hives, lip swollen to his nose, his eyes almost swollen shut. Mrs. Wolford went on to tell me that they had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch and that was at 11:20a.m. I picked him up a little over an hour later and I did not recieve a phone call or any sense of emergency from them. I rushed my son to the emergency room due to Anaphylactic reaction to the peanut butter, which is a severe reaction that included him wheezing and having trouble breathing. My son and I spent over three hours in the E.R. and he was given steroids and benadryl. I would like to remind all of you that I did NOT recieve a phone call. My son suffered for one hour and ten minutes without any help. I am scared to think of what would have happened if I would have picked my son up two hours later. My son was mistreated and ignored. After many calls to different facilities to arrange for different child care I found out some interesting laws. First Flight should have not distributed peanut butter to ANY child under the age of 2 1/2 because not only is it a very common, deathly allergy but it is a serious choking hazard. If you have any questions, I would love for you to e-mail me, hilliariesilcox@gmail.com. I will hope that your child(ren) are safe and are taken care of. This is not the facility to take your child(ren).
