Description: Cedarwood School brings Waldorf education to life and strives to instill a love for learning. Our curriculum weaves together the arts, academics and movement, with a reverence for the developing child. We nurture our children’s spirituality, cultivate their ability to think imaginatively and inspire them to seek the truth.
Our curriculum covers a full spectrum of traditional academic subjects and integrates artistic activities into the academics. This allows students to engage in learning at the emotional level. Painting, music and story are integral parts of academic lessons so that art becomes a conduit of knowledge, not an optional add-on. Kinesthetic learning is also interwoven through movement and crafts. Cedarwood cultivates a love of, and respect for, nature and the rhythms of the seasons through seasonal celebrations and daily time outdoors.
Cedarwood School first opened in October 1997 with one teacher and four students. Now, with over 280 students and a full array of subject classes, we have a thriving program. This has been further enhanced and enabled by the recent completion of a newly renovated wing on our beautiful building. In addition to two new classrooms, this renovation has given us a community kitchen, a spacious faculty room, a gorgeous performance space, an art display hall, and a fantastic music room. We can now truly serve our full pre-kindergarten-through-Grade 8 program and better share the fruits of this education with the Cedarwood community.
