I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I am a Family Medicine Physician and I initially registered with this daycare after an abuse issue at the last daycare; I spent a year with this daycare due to the proximity to work and security cameras they had established. There were SOOO many issues in the infant and toddler room over that year that I should have left sooner but I stuck it out until recently after poor management caused me to have me relocate. The negligence and unprofessionalism was there—should have caught the signs sooner.

For all of you new mothers out there, if you are looking for cheap daycare and expecting nothing else outside of babysitting, come here. If you actually care about the welfare of your kids, beware. Some staff are great, others are questionable

I noticed many healthcare issues arise over the year which I have tried to assist the daycare in correcting—(which is why I stayed for so long but some issues still have not been corrected)
Issues found:
Breast milk left out for >2 hours and re-fed to the infant
Regular milk left out for hours and almost re-fed to my son warm as can be before I caught it and called the daycare attendant out on it (who knows how long that had been going on)
Brought in aquaphor for PREVENTION of diaper rashes then a year later got pushback because someone in their incorrect wisdom believed that it caused fungal rashes
Mismanagement of otc medications like sunblock/aquaphor—would have one staff member tell me they put it on when it wasn’t applied, causing diaper rash or unprotected sun exposure b/c the staff was ‘too busy’ or didn’t keep up with paperwork
Brought in breakfast/snacks for him throughout the day that the staff would not give to him sometimes although it was properly labeled with time to be given
I had to formally ask to find out that he wasn’t eating some meals at lunch causing weight loss instead of staff identifying that problem and notifying me as his parent ahead
Carpeting is still so filthy that my child was coming home with malodorous socks that were stained brown—Every day; still haven’t rectified that one
My child ate lunch with the daycare and when he had an episode of diarrhea from the food, it wasn’t properly met with corrective actions.
Injuries would occur during the day to my son that I wouldn’t find out about until picking him up later in the day (one episode he sustained a scratch on his face with dried blood noted but staff stated it ‘wasn’t an open wound so I wasn’t contacted’)
Walked into ‘water play’ day finding my child freezing cold/wet sitting in a chair without a blanket/towel to keep him warm—never let him participate again
Found a daycare attendant watching >10 kids by herself, overwhelmed; when I advised the owner that she needed help, she looked incredulous and looked like I was the problem although the poor staff member confirmed she needed assistance
Revolving door of faces—you bring your kid in one day and they’re with completely different staff; no warning/introductions; just expected to go with it
Watched an attendant drop a glove on the floor then pick it up to be reused for a diaper change
Training days can randomly occur throughout the year without sufficient notice—someone posts the date in an inconspicuous location and expects everyone to know causing work hour loss
Barely wash hands before eating, increasing risk of infection/contamination
One staff also not properly washing hands appropriately—literally watched her let my 1.5 year old son ‘wash his hands’ on his own and call it quits afterwards, even when he touched the faucet again after ‘cleaning his hands’
Emailed the director and owner regarding health issues and they still haven’t gotten back to me weeks later because they’re too busy

If you know what quality/standards are, it’s hard to accept lower than BASELINE/STANDARD conditions expected for your child.

Problem they had with me is that I can’t sit around and let these things happen. Someone needs to be an advocate for the kids. Save yourself the headache and frustration.

As a teacher, director and overall person with more then 20 years experience in the early education field, Amberley Childcare is one of the best places to work. I myself have two children and I wish a small, dedicated place such as this was around when mine were smaller. This is a new center and is amazing. After joining the team, we have added a great curriculum and the center is full of life and color. Our staff is State certified and have received the mandatory training and still continue to do so. Please come visit and see for yourself. Our infant room is thriving and the preschool is quite impressive as well, what a great job !!! I am proud of our staff.

Loving Parent<3 Feb 25, 2015

As a parent of a child attending Amberley Child Care, I am far impressed by the way the staff handles my toddler. The owner is very open to talk to me about his improvements and thing we can do at home to help our toddler succeed. She has his best interest at heart and I am more than satisfied with the improvement that he has made over the several months such as being potty trained, learning all of his colors, and slowly but surely singing me the the ABC song. I am very grateful for this center and this staff and I will keep my son enrolled in this this center until he can no longer go there. They are reasonably priced considering all of the improvement that has been made. I would recommend this child care to many other parents in search for a better future for their children.

Disappointed Parent Feb 05, 2015

Parents be cautioned. Some of the staff are very nice and I am sure have very good intentions but overall this center has a lot to learn. My baby was enrolled in the infant room and it was very clear that the staff was not very well trained on infant care. My son was being over fed daily, basically just given a bottle any time he cried and when I spoke to the owner regarding my concerns I was met with an attitude and no changes were made. On one occasion my son was fed a bottle that was not his bottle and when I called the center to voice my concern the owner spent 10 minutes arguing with me about how I must be mistaken because that was my sons bottle. The very next day I receive a note home that a staff member accidentally gave my son one of their "new" bottles and that is where the bottle came from. The bottle had a yellow tinted nipple on it and was clearly not a bottle that had only been used one time and why was the owner so defensive the first time I called about my concern. Overall I had a horrible experience and have withdrawn my son from this center completely. Very reasonably priced but when it comes to my son I will pay more to have piece of mind that the people who are caring for him not only have his best interest in mind but who are open to communication and able to respond to my concerns with at least the slightest sense of customer service…. and to top of the excellent attitude of the owner when I stopped by to drop off my sons withdrawal notice the owner's one and only question for me was "Did I have my payment?" - Which I did, of course. I feel much more comfortable about my sons care now. In this case you pay less - you get less.
