Butler Nursery School of St. John's Episcopal Church, Tuckahoe

Butler Nursery School of St. John's Episcopal Church, Tuckahoe

Yonkers, NY 10710 | (914) 779-7024
At Butler Nursery School, we believe that children thrive in an age appropriate program within a safe and nurturing environment. We offer a curriculum designed to foster their growth, stimulate their curiosity, and challenge their mental and physical needs. We encourage the development of socialization skills and the building of self-esteem, while respecting each child’s uniqueness as an individual. The classrooms at Butler Nursery School are bright and cheerful. We have a large, muraled indoor playroom and a well-equipped outdoor playground. Play is an important aspect of child development. Through play, children explore the world around them by learning how to socialize with others, expressing feelings through language, testing muscular skills, and developing math concepts. We enrich this play through reading, music, art, cooking, and dramatic play. We offer half day programs to children age 2-4. Programs are offered 2, 3, and 5 days a week (days offered varies based on age). We do not require that a child be potty-trained before entering school. The school year runs from mid-September to early June, and a six-week summer camp is also available.

Yonkers, NY 10701 | (914) 965-1152
We seek to develop and expand a learner driven science of teaching for all children, a science of practice that provides superior education based exclusively on scientific procedures. Our goals are to accelerate children’s learning, the ability to learn in new ways, and to acquire the ability to learn independently. It is also as important that children learn to expand their community of reinforcers, or passionate interests, as it is to teach them to do things they could not do without special instruction. It is not enough to learn to read fluently; rather, one must come to learn to love to read. There are systematic scientific procedures to do this and we seek to provide them for children in our schools and to expand the science to do so for children in all schools!

New Little Branches

New Little Branches

Yonkers, NY 10701 | (914) 378-1473
Lanza Learning Center (LLC) was established on a foundation of dreams and is perpetuated on the principle of endless possibilities. Founded in 1998 by Ann Abrowka, under the name New Little Branches, our Yonkers based center was established as an early childcare facility that would shape and change the lives of the children and families of Yonkers and beyond. In 2011, after many years of funding her dream out of her personal savings, our founder exhausted her resources and was faced with the dilemma of having to give up on her dream. Believing that everything happens for a reason, Mrs. Ann made the acquaintance of known philanthropist Patricia Lanza who visited New Little Branches and immediately fell in love. Mrs. Lanza, who has dedicated her life to ensuring that those with limited resources become individuals of infinite possibilities, was immediately compelled to turn Mrs. Ann's dream into a reality. In honor of Mrs. Ann's vision and Mrs. Lanza's generosity, the center was renamed New Little Branches presents Lanza Learning Center. Since then, our students have worn the required yellow and blue uniforms with pride as they have excelled in an early childcare curriculum which emphasizes phonetics, writing, reading, phonics, science and discovery, music appreciation, art, physical education, library instruction and computer applications. From our classroom to common areas, everything about Lanza Learning Center has been developed to build relationships with warm, caring teachers while learning in a safe and stimulating environment.
