CHILDREN'S INSTITUTE INTERNATIONAL(INFANTS)

CHILDREN'S INSTITUTE INTERNATIONAL(INFANTS)

Los Angeles, CA 90005 | (213) 925-5100
There is a crisis in Los Angeles. For far too many children here, violence is a daily fact of life. 50,000 reports of child abuse/neglect are filed annually– more than 400 a day, 17 an hour. Police respond to 43,000 reports of domestic violence, many involving children. When children are traumatized by violence, their chances of growing up to lead healthy, productive lives are threatened. They are more likely to fail in school, enter the criminal justice system, and repeat the cycle. With intervention, though, the harmful effects of violence can be mitigated and the cycle broken. That’s why Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) serves more than 24,000 children and their families in the city’s most challenged neighborhoods, and trains more than 9,000 professionals in the realm of child development, mental health and welfare. CII provides healing so traumatized children can recover and lead healthy lives, while working to shape the field of children’s services through innovative research, demonstration projects, and professionally accredited training programs.

Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) helps children in Los Angeles’s most challenged communities heal from the trauma of family and community violence, build the confidence and skills to break through the barriers of poverty, and grow up to lead healthy, productive lives. For more than a century we have served the most at-risk and overlooked young people in Los Angeles—those harmed by child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, gang and community violence, as well as the crushing effects of poverty. CII’s Integrated Service Model, which combines evidence-based clinical services, youth development programs, early childhood programs, and family support services, is designed to address the “whole child” as well as the entire family. Each year, we serve more than 20,000 children and families in Los Angeles County. We have three main campuses—the new Otis Booth Campus (our headquarters) just west of downtown Los Angeles, our Mid-Wilshire Campus in Koreatown, and our Burton E. Green Campus in Torrance. We also have centers in Watts and San Pedro/Long Beach as well as 11 early childhood centers and more than 60 family child care homes throughout the County. In the next five years, we will be developing our fourth campus, a state-of-the-art facility in Watts. Our services are offered in English, Spanish and Korean. Learn more about our programs and services. Or download our publication for professionals, Programs and Services for Children, Youth and Families.
